KATHMANDU – Veteran batter Sharad Vesawkar is set to captain Nepal's seven-member squad in his final international appearance at the Hong Kong Sixes cricket tournament, which begins on November 7. Nepal will compete in Group A alongside formidable opponents South Africa and Afghanistan.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed the squad, which features a mix of experience and emerging talent. Vesawkar, a long-serving figure in Nepali cricket and a key player in the nation's qualification for the 2014 T20 World Cup, will be looking for a memorable swansong.
The full squad consists of:
Sharad Vesawkar (captain)
Sandeep Jora
Aadil Alam
Lokesh Bam
Rupesh Singh
Rashid Khan
Bashir Ahmad
The tournament, which runs from November 7-9, features a fast-paced six-a-side format with matches consisting of six overs per side. Nepal is scheduled to play Afghanistan on November 7 and South Africa on November 8, with both matches taking place at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok.
The team's performance will be watched closely, especially as it marks the end of Vesawkar's international career. Nepal will hope to build on its strong showing in the 2024 edition, where they upset top teams like England and Australia.
