KATHMANDU — Australian T20 specialist Chris Lynn is set to join the Sudurpaschim Royals for the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), adding international star power to the upcoming tournament. The Royals officially confirmed the signing in early September, securing the hard-hitting opener as their first foreign player for the 2025 season.
The announcement was made via the team's social media platforms, following earlier hints that had sent local cricket circles into a frenzy. Lynn, known for his explosive batting and prowess as the all-time leading run-scorer in Australia's Big Bash League (BBL), is expected to be a major draw for the NPL.
Royals' owner Swotantra Pratap Shah expressed satisfaction with the signing, stating that bringing in a player with a strong BBL reputation was part of their strategy to strengthen the team and enhance the NPL's standing.
Lynn brings extensive T20 experience to the Royals, having scored over 8,000 runs in the format, including five centuries. He has also played in major global leagues such as the IPL and CPL. Lynn shared his enthusiasm for playing in the NPL before Nepal's passionate fans and alongside talented players.
The Royals are building on their previous success with international players, following Scott Kuggeleijn's performance in the first NPL season. The team has also signed Australian batsman Josh Philippe and focused on securing domestic talent.
The NPL's second season is scheduled from November 17 to December 13, 2025, and will feature eight teams competing in 36 matches.
