It is confirmed that Australian batter Sam Heazlett has joined the Biratnagar Kings as an overseas player for the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), which is scheduled to run from November 17 to December 13, 2025. The left-handed power hitter's addition is expected to significantly strengthen the Kings' batting lineup. His signing has been met with excitement among fans of Nepali cricket, and he is one of several Australian players confirmed to participate in this year's NPL. Heazlett brings with him considerable experience from first-class cricket and the Big Bash League (BBL), where he played for the Brisbane Heat before moving to the Hobart Hurricanes in 2023. He made a notable first-class debut in the 2015-16 season, scoring 129 and 78 against Tasmania and finishing the season with 649 runs at an average of 40.56, the third-best debut season for a Queensland batsman. He also earned a surprise call-up to Australia's ODI squad in 2017 after impressing in a winter A series. The Kings, who finished 6th in the 2024 NPL league stage, are hoping that Heazlett's explosive batting and technical proficiency, combined with the leadership of retained marquee player and captain Sandeep Lamichhane, will lead to a more successful campaign this season.
