LUMBINI – The Lumbini Lions, a prominent franchise in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), have officially unveiled their new jersey for the upcoming season, fusing traditional Nepalese heritage with a modern, ferocious edge. The jersey reveal, which took place in a ceremony at the Mayadevi Temple in Lumbini, was attended by team dignitaries and marquee players.
The new design prominently features patterns from traditional Palpali Dhaka fabric, symbolizing the team's roots in Nepalese culture. In a further nod to their regional identity, the jersey incorporates a glowing peace lamp, representing Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. According to Chairman Ishwar Bahadur GC, the jersey reflects not just the team's strength but the rich heritage of the region.
The jersey, primarily dark blue with golden trim, is dominated by a bold lion's head crest, which was part of a redesigned logo revealed in July 2025. The updated logo was described as "modern, fierce, and ready to conquer," a sentiment carried forward into the new team attire.
The team's official social media accounts teased the jersey reveal with a "red box" campaign in the days leading up to the unveiling on October 19.
After a disappointing NPL 2024 season where they were the first team eliminated, the Lions are hoping their new look will bring a renewed sense of energy. With a new CEO, Bhawana Ghimire, appointed in July 2025 and key player retentions made in June, the team appears poised for a comeback. The NPL Season 2 auction was a success for the Lions, as they assembled a team with top talents and emerged as the highest spender.
With the new season approaching, the Lumbini Lions are ready to wear their traditions with pride and are determined to make a mark on the field.
