Kane Williamson back in international Cricket

Kane Williamson has been included in the New Zealand squad for the upcoming three-match One Day International (ODI) series against England.

The ODI series against England begins on October 26. Williamson's return marks his first international appearance since the Champions Trophy final defeat to India earlier in the year. He missed the recently concluded T20I series against England while recovering from a minor medical issue. According to RNZ and Reuters, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) stated on October 20, 2025 that he had been recovering from a "minor medical issue" over the past month.

His return is a significant boost for the New Zealand side as they begin their pathway towards the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, where they are currently ranked second in ODIs. New Zealand head coach Rob Walter confirmed that Williamson was targeting a return during the ODI series against England.
